There are also benefits to choosing to go bird watching in your backyard. For example, you’re more likely to be able to get more up close and personal with the birds. You might also see the same birds day after day which gives you a chance to learn about their habits and patterns.

If you want to go bird watching in your backyard you can do some things to help attract the birds to your lawn in the first place. Here are some tips:

Have a flower garden- birds love this
Supply proper bird feeding all year long
Give nesting sites or bird houses
Grow special types of plants that will attract them
Give them water in a bird bath or other special means

These things are great ways to bring more birds to your backyard. Then all you have to do is be ready for them when they get there. You should try to observe the birds so that they don’t know you are there. Not only will this prevent you from spooking them but it also allows you to see them in their natural actions.

You should move slowly and quietly and even watch through windows and doors when you can, especially if they’re already open. Avoid disturbing a nest because this can cause the parents to abandon the nest and the eggs.

Then you may try drawing or keeping a journal of the birds you see and trying to identify them, note how many different types come to your backyard and even share this with friends and family. You can watch the birds come back again and again all year round.
