Create the Perfect Hummingbird Habitat

Aspects 153 Mini Hummzinger Hummingbird Feeder, 8-Ounce

Hummingbirds are amazing little creatures that can bring a lot of pleasure to your life. It’s fun and entertaining watching them fly around your backyard. But the hummingbird is a little different from other species. They have a lot of character and if you’re not familiar with these birds, you’ll soon learn they can be very possessive and demanding. They don’t like to share with others so it’s important to provide a habitat with plenty of options when it comes to feeders and places to call home.

Start by scattering several feeders throughout your backyard. Once a hummingbird claims a certain feeder as its own, it will fight off others to keep them away. You can also grow plants that provide food for the hummingbird and this will increase the number of birds that can make a home in your backyard.

Hummingbirds are demanding because they like a clean feeder with fresh food. If the food gets old or when it runs out, they have a tendency of flying around your head whenever you’re near the feeder. Sometimes, they will even fly right up to your face and sit in front of you for a few seconds. It may be a coincidence but it seems as though they’re telling you, it’s time to refill.

Provide perches for them to rest on, shelter and nestling places along with a fresh water source (they prefer fountains, sprinklers and other moving water sources) and you’ll have the perfect hummingbird habitat.
