Privacy is something that everyone wants when sitting in the backyard but how can this be achieved without putting up an over-sized wooden privacy fence? Beautiful plants is the answer! Using trees and bushes on your property line to help block your neighbors view does more than provide privacy. It also creates beautiful scenery that you’ll enjoy throughout the years.
Here are a few tips for using plants to create backyard privacy:
- Do not plant directly on your property line. This can cause issues when the plants reach full size. Therefore, it’s better to move inward a few feet.
- Do not put your plants in one straight line. Instead, plant in clusters close to the boundary line. This helps to avoid gaps in the plants that will create more privacy.
- Give you plants enough room between each one to grow when you plant them. Otherwise, they will be overcrowded and may not reach their full potential.
- Every so many feet plant a bush or tree that blooms with flowers or beautifully colored leaves. This helps keep out monotony and it increases the beauty of your backyard.
When done correctly, plants will create a beautiful privacy barrier with gorgeous colors that will last for generations.
Rugs for Your Patio
Outdoor rugs are a great choice for your patio, gazebos and decks. Most of them are as soft and plush as indoor rugs so they feel great when you walk around barefoot. It’ll help keep your feet warmer on chilly nights too. When it comes to durability, outdoor patio rugs are strong but they’re created to match the modern day décor.
These rugs are nothing like the indoor, outdoor rugs your grandparents use to have. They’re beautifully designed with non-skid backing to keep them in place and they hold up well in all types of weather. They’re easy to clean so you don’t have to worry about dirt and mud. Normally, you only need to wash them off with the water hose.
Outdoor rugs come in so many colors, patterns and sizes you may find several to match your exact needs so, the hardest part might be choosing between them. Outdoor rugs will brighten up any outdoor sitting area while adding to the comfort level of your family and guests.
Birdbath Cleaning Tips
Birdbaths are a beautiful addition to any backyard but they do need to be cleaned regularly. Keeping your birdbath clean will encourage birds to return to your yard and it will keep them healthier. When the water is clean, it will taste better and look better but it also prevents the spread of disease and it won’t attract pesky insects such as, mosquitoes.
Clean the birdbath about twice a week with chlorine bleach, a scrub brush and fresh water. Pour out any old water and remove anything floating or clogged, then use the bleach and water to scrub the birdbath. Rinse it with fresh water until there is no cleaning solution left and then allow it to dry thoroughly. After it dries, refill with fresh cool water and enjoy the view.
Knowing how to clean a birdbath properly is important but so is prevention. Place your birdbath away from birdfeeders to keep it cleaner and in a shady area to help reduce the growth of algae. Each time you fill your birdbath, empty it first and rinse it out good before adding new water. This will lengthen the time between cleaning and make it easier when you do. Maintaining your birdbath will ensure that you continue to see happy, healthy birds for years to come.
