When you don’t have a lot of free time but you still want a beautiful backyard, it’s time to look into low maintenance options. Not everyone has the time to spend hours working on the landscape but that doesn’t mean you don’t want it to look great. To achieve this, you need a few creative ideas that will allow you to have an attractive backyard without spending long hours working on it such as, the ones mentioned here:

Keep your lawn mowed and fertilized and this will make it easier to keep the grass green and the weeds out, reducing the amount of maintenance required.

Look for plants and shrubs that are low maintenance and place these around the yard away from the house. Put any high maintenance ones you want to use close to the house. This way, they will be easier for you to take care of.

Choose plants that are well suited for and that thrive naturally in your area.

Invest in an automatic sprinkler system. This is a great investment for those who don’t have time to water plants or grass on a regular basis.

Place mulch around tree trunks and weedy areas to reduce the work needed to keep these areas looking their best.

Low maintenance landscapes can look as lush and beautiful as the high maintenance ones but without all the hard work.

Tropical landscapes may seem like something you can only have if you live in the far south but this is not always the case. With special care and planning, you can have a tropical backyard most anywhere you live, provided the temperatures rarely reach below 25 degrees.

To create a lush tropical landscape, the first thing that you need to do is determine how much room you have for plants and accessories such as, a waterfall or fountain. This will help you decide what will work the best because you want to make sure you have enough room for the plants that you choose.

When picking out the plants look for ones that require similar care and upkeep. Gardening is easier when the plants need to be watered and fertilized at the same time. You should also look for the plants that will survive the easiest in your particular climate.

The next step will be to choose your accessories but before you buy anything, walk off the area and mark where everything will go. This will ensure that everything will fit and not be overcrowded. If you want a true tropical feel, then use small plants and flowers around the larger ones to fill in the open spots adding color and beauty all around.

It’s also a good idea to put a walkway throughout your tropical landscape made from crushed gravel, pebbles or shells. This will give you a pathway to walk through where you can enjoy all your hard work.

Privacy is something that everyone wants when sitting in the backyard but how can this be achieved without putting up an over-sized wooden privacy fence? Beautiful plants is the answer! Using trees and bushes on your property line to help block your neighbors view does more than provide privacy. It also creates beautiful scenery that you’ll enjoy throughout the years.

Here are a few tips for using plants to create backyard privacy:

Do not plant directly on your property line. This can cause issues when the plants reach full size. Therefore, it’s better to move inward a few feet.

Do not put your plants in one straight line. Instead, plant in clusters close to the boundary line. This helps to avoid gaps in the plants that will create more privacy.

Give you plants enough room between each one to grow when you plant them. Otherwise, they will be overcrowded and may not reach their full potential.

Every so many feet plant a bush or tree that blooms with flowers or beautifully colored leaves. This helps keep out monotony and it increases the beauty of your backyard.

When done correctly, plants will create a beautiful privacy barrier with gorgeous colors that will last for generations.

Decorative Solar lights are a great way to spruce up any backyard and give it a little more color and interest. These lights come in a variety of different colors and some change colors depending on what style you buy. With all the different sizes available, it’s easy to find just the right size for your needs.

Some of the best places to put solar lights are around flowerbeds, walkways, benches, patios or you can simply scattered them throughout your lawn to create an array of color. Decorative solar lights have many benefits. Since they are solar powered they will not increase your electric bill. In fact, you may see a slight decrease in your bill if you currently use other types of lightening.

If you live in an area that tends to stay overcast and rainy a lot, you can opt for the hybrid lights instead of solar powered only. Hybrid lights will run off solar power and from batteries or electricity when there is not enough sun to power the lights.

Are you searching for a way to dress up the water well in your backyard? Many homeowners get water from a well but they don’t like the way the pump system looks sticking out of the ground. Not only is it an eyesore but it can also pose a safety hazard for kids and pets playing in the yard and even for guest during BBQ’s and other events.

Fortunately, several ways are available to disguise the pump system that will add to the beauty of your lawn by creating an attractive centerpiece. The main thing to remember when choosing a water well cover is that it must be something that still allows you easy access to the pump system.

One of the most common ways to cover these systems is with a pump house. The great thing about pump houses is that they come in many designs and sizes or you can even build your own. Other options include artificial rocks and stones. These look realistic and they’re easily accessible. Using a pump cover will help you create a safer environment in your backyard for everyone while creating an attractive focal point.
