Is Your Yard Right for a Tree House?

Calico Critters Country Tree House

Most kids love tree houses where they can invite friends over to play, start they own club or use their imaginations to make it their own private get-away. However, before you can build a tree house for your kids, you need to make sure your yard is right one.

The first thing you have to do is find the right tree. Look for trees that are strong and sturdy enough to hold up the weight of the materials used to build the tree house and your kids. Above all else, choose a healthy tree. A weak or diseased tree is unsafe for your kids to play in or around. Some of the best trees to use are oak, ash, beech and apple.

The last thing to look for when deciding if your yard is right for a tree house is the location. The tree that you choose should be in a good area that’s private. For example, it should not be adjacent to the neighbor’s bedroom window. If you discover your yard is not suited for a tree house, you can always opt for a playhouse instead.
