If you live in the far north and get lots of snow, preteens can have backyard fun sledding, making snowmen and getting in snowball fights with their friends. But what kind of winter fun can you have when you live in areas that are just cold, with very little or no snow at all?
When dressed appropriately in layers, boots and hats, preteens can enjoy a variety of backyard activities that will keep them occupied all winter.
Your kids can go skateboarding, ride a bike or explore the backyard to see what type of birds and other creatures are lurking about in the winter. Playing ball is always a fun activity kids can enjoy even when it’s cold outside. They can choose between a number of different games that include soccer, basketball and softball.
Activities that keep your preteens moving around will help them get the exercise they need and keep them warm when the weather is cold. Even so, kids should not stay outside for an extended length of time in the winter. Therefore, you need to make sure they come in and warm up after about twenty or thirty minutes.
