Backyard Putting Greens

A backyard putting green is a great way for a golfer to practice their skills. The putting green not only helps the golfer to work on bettering his or her skills, but it also is great for entertainment. You can purchase the putting green from various places. Most of them are built or manufactured to withstand years of golfing fun in the backyard. The backyard is the perfect place for synthetic turf.

There are two important types of synthetic turf. It is the nylon and the polypropylene. Most synthetic turfs are basically worried free from the elements such as rain, snow and heat. The polypropylene is a form of plastic. It is a bit less economically than nylon, but requires slightly more maintenance.  This same turf will require that you roll this turf with a lawn roller. The purpose is to curl the top of the fibers so that the ball can have a smoother roll and free of oscillations.

The nylon turf is a bit higher in price than the polypropylene. This material does not need much maintenance at all. The risk for UV damage is basically zero to none with the nylon turf. The turf remains in excellent condition as all that is needed to maintain is by blowing or sweeping the debris away.

After deciding on the type of turf that you desire you can purchase and have installed or you can build yourself.  You will need to measure the area in length and feet. You will have to contact your local utility department to survey the surface for installation. You will need to ensure that you obtain any need required permits in order to install your putting green.  The irrigation system if one exists needs to be capped off. This requires for you to call the irrigation company to take care of it for you.

There are putting green kits that you can purchase and install yourself.  Before measuring you will also need to decide on the shape of the putting green. You will also need to decide on the amount of holes that you will need for your putting green.  The location needs to be leveled. You can draw a line with spray that is made for landscaping. You will do this to outline your putting green.

There are more steps to installing your very own putting green in your backyard.  A putting green will bring many hours of fun and enjoyment to all involved.  If you are the skill golfer the putting green will be excellent for practicing.  You can have parties and initiate friendly competition between you and your friends. If you decided to have a professional to install the putting green ensure that it is a company that will allow you to be involved with every inch of the design.

It is up to you whether you want real or synthetic turf. If you choose to go with the real thing, the bentgrass would be a great choice. They are the less expensive to install and they make your backyard look just like a golf course. The holes can even be moved around, but it will need to be mowed every other day.  Although the synthetic does not look as real as the bentgrass you will not have to maintain as often.  After deciding to install a backyard putting green you will need to watch out for your neighbors windows when playing a game of golf.
