Did you have problems with garden snakes last year? They may not be poisonous but they can still startle you when you’re trying to enjoy your garden. Fortunately, there are a few good ways to keep garden snakes away without harming them. These snakes can be very useful because they feed off of rodents and other creatures that can be harmful to your garden and lawn.
However, if you prefer to keep them out of your garden, all you need to do is make it a less favorable habitat. Clear out any bushes, rocks and other debris around the garden to eliminate places where they can make a home. If you mulch the garden, do so sparingly.
Keep all garbage in a sealed container to avoid drawing rodents to your yard and keep the grass short at all times. Snakes will avoid areas where there is no food supply or places to hide. You may still see a snake or two pass by but they are less likely to move in and stay.
